In Colorado, testing is determined by the state legislature, and directed by the elected State Board of Education. The Boulder Valley School District will administer these assessments, collectively known as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). They include Mathematics, English language arts, Colorado-only tests in Science and Social Studies, and College Preparatory and Entrance Exams, the SAT and PSAT that are in use nation-wide. Mathematics and English Language Arts tests were developed by a multi-state consortium, . The district has worked with state legislators to reduce the level of testing required in school districts.Responses to CMAS frequently asked questions are available at http://www.bvsd.org/assessment/SitePages/FAQ.aspx.
Links to sample questions from the tests are available for CMAS Science & Social Studies, Math & English LA.
